June 15th, 2008 by admin

This Wednesday 18th June is Creative Coast night - the last of the current season, and it’s a cracker…

Responding to demand by our members we’ve put together an evening looking at marketing and networking from the perspective of both business and the arts. If you’re a creative looking to promote what you do or if you run a creative business and want to get your name out there beyond the confines of Scarborough, this is for you. Complete beginners and seasoned hands will all be sure to gain valuable advice and insight.

Joining us for the evening will be Shirley Collier, Chief Executive of Scarborough Museums Trust, and Jayne Harper, Marketing Manager of Duraweld.

Shirley came to Scarborough from being Deputy Director of Collections at the Imperial War Museum to oversee the formation of the Museums Trust and the multi-million pound redevelopment of The Rotunda museum. With a wealth of experience working in the cultural sector including The Tate Gallery and the British Film Institute, Shirley will be offering advice on how to network effectively and get your work into the hands of the people most likely to commission more from you…

Jayne has overseen the rebranding of Scarborough-based presentation, packaging and print experts Duraweld and led their promotional activities including PR campaigns and targeted direct mail. She’s also helped the company gain recognition for innovation in green technology, thus improving their image in a competitive market. Jayne will be able to offer insights into marketing that are applicable to big business and individuals alike.

This is sure to be a valuable evening with advice and chat in a relaxed atmosphere - and it’s free. Don’t miss it!
